Mountain biking in NSW State forests
Whether you are a seasoned mountain bike rider, or a beginner and just want to give it a go, NSW State forests have something for you! Our extensive and dedicated trail network, managed by mountain bike clubs under Forest Permit, provides the enthusiastic mountain bike rider with plenty of opportunities for an easy or more challenging ride. There’s also an extensive network of roads for those who prefer a gravel grit adventure.
NSW State forests are a mountain biker’s dream, offering kilometres of tracks and trails for every skill level. Remember to ride safely, respect other trail users and check our website for events and closures before you head out.

Where can I ride in NSW State forests?
Following are dedicated mountain bike trails within the NSW State forest network.
Angry Bull Trails
Angry Bull Trails is currently under development in Boonoo State Forest near Tenterfield. The anticipated opening is 2026.
Awaba MTB Park
Awaba MTB trails encompass around 200 ha of Olney State Forest. The trails include options for kids and beginners, adaptive riding, XC/enduro, and downhill/gravity.
Black Jack MTB Trails
The mountain bike trails in Black Jack State Forest are cross-country and offer riders a variety of experiences. Managed by Gunnedah Mountain Bikers.
Bom Bom MTB Trails
Bom Bom MTB trails offer 87 trails in Bom Bom State Forest, incorporating around 30 km of flowing easy single track with some adjoining fire roads.
Glenwood Forest MTB Trails
Glenwood Forest Trails are located 15 minutes west of the town of Orange in Glenwood State Forest, a radiata pine plantation on the slopes of Mount Canobolas.
Gravity Eden
Gravity Eden Mountain Bike Park features a network of 58 km of trails within Nullica State Forest near Eden.
Jacks Ridge MTB Park
Jacks Ridge Mountain Bike Park is in Nambucca State Forest, just a short distance from the seaside town of Nambucca Heads.
Jolly Nose MTB Park
Jolly Nose Mountain Bike Park offers 70 km of mountain bike trails rated for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.
Kalateenee MTB Trails
Kalateenee Mountain Bike Trails feature a network of 25-30 km of trails, maintained by Macleay Valley Mountain Bikers Club within Kalateenee State Forest near Kempsey, NSW.
Kiwarrak MTB Park
The Kiwarrak MTB Park offers a fast and flowing network of trails in Kiwarrak State Forest, designed to follow the natural contours of the land. Kiwarrak trails are interconnected and intersect each other many times over.
Kyogle MTB Park
Kyogle MTB trails in Boorabee State Forest are conveniently close to the township of Kyogle. Kyogle MTB Park offers 17 fun, flowy trails on rich dark loam soil.
Mason's Hill MTB Trails
Mason's Hill MTB Trails offer a small cross-country MTB trail network in Mannus State Forest pines.
Mogo Trails
Mogo Trails feature 72 purpose-built trails stretching over 125 km in Mogo State Forest.
Mount Coramba MTB
Mt Coramba Downhill trail is in Orara East State Forest. This black diamond rated trail is downhill, built and managed for the advanced gravity rider.
Mountain Bike Narooma
Managed by the Narooma Mountain Bike Club in Bodalla State Forest, the park offers 54 trails covering 85 km of machine and hand-built trails.
New Italy MTB Forest
New Italy Mountain Bike Forest is a cross country trail network located within the beautiful Double Duke State Forest at Tabbimobile, approx. 9 km south of Woodburn.
Ourimbah MTB Park
Ourimbah Mountain Bike Park in Ourimbah State Forest offers plenty of trails to suit all riders. Ourimbah offers over 18 km of trails for novice, intermediate and advanced riders to explore in beautiful Central Coast forest.
Piney MTB Trails
Located just a few kilometres north of Armidale, the eastern side of Armidale State Forest has an extensive mountain bike trail network built and maintained by the New England Mountain Bikers.
Rydal MTB Trails
Rydal mountain bike trails are located in Lidsdale State Forest, near the small township of Rydal in the Lithgow region.
SCUM Trail Network
SCUM manages 3 mountain bike trail networks — Coondoo, Superbowl and Butterfly — located just south of Nowra within the Shoalhaven region, across Shoalhaven, Nowra and Currambene State Forests.
The Sawmill - Pine Creek MTB Park
The Sawmill - Pine Creek MTB Park is located in Pine Creek State Forest near Bonville on the NSW north coast.
Tumut MTB Park
Tumut Mountain Bike Park is located in Tumut State Forest, close to the township of Tumut.
Wedding Bells MTB Trails
Wedding Bells MTB trails are located in the Wedding Bells State Forest north of Woolgoolga.
Wingello Forest Trails
After much work by Highland Trails, the first stage of Wingello Forest Trails was opened in 2023 with more to be opened over time.
Woodburn MTB Park
These family-friendly trails are managed by MUD MTB Club, who host regular maintenance days for those interested.
