Where can I camp?
Camping is permitted in most NSW State forests (excluding Cumberland State Forest) for free.
Campsites can't be booked. It's first in, first served.
Can I light a campfire?
When visiting NSW State forests, it’s essential to know the rules around campfires.
During the warmer months, solid fuel fires are banned.
How can I find out about road or forest closures?
Please visit our forest notices and closures portal to see current alerts in place.
Where can I get an authorisation (permit) to collect firewood or fossicking?
Everyone who plans to fossick or collect firewood in a State forest will need an authorisation (permit). You can arrange this on our authorisations portal here.
