Forestry Corporation's management of state forests is certified to Australian Standard for Sustainable Forest Management under the Responsible Wood Certification System. This standard has been recognised through the international Programme for Endorsement of Certification Scheme (PEFC), which guarantees that timber has been grown and harvested from a sustainable forest. Worldwide certification programs aim to prevent unregulated or illegally logged forest timber entering international markets by setting criteria that forest management must meet.
The long-term success of our business is based on the ability of the forests we manage to provide and continue providing a range of services and products sustainably over the long term. Our sustainability framework sets out our priorities in terms of environmental, community, staff and business sustainability. We report on our progress in our annual Sustainability Report.
Forestry Corporation offers school excursions at Cumberland State Forest in Sydney and Strickland State Forest on the Central Coast and works with forestry organisations throughout Australia to provide useful education resources on forests, sustainable forest management and renewable wood products.
