The regulations for native forestry operations in State forests are called Integrated Forestry Operations Approvals (IFOAs). Each IFOA has hundreds of individual conditions that must be complied with on each operation.

Timber plantations on both private land and State forests are regulated by the Plantations and Reafforestation Act 1999 and Plantations and Reafforestation (Code) Regulation 2001.
