Authorised hunting in NSW State forests
State forests offer a wide range of activities for forest users, including authorised recreational hunting in some State forests.
Hunting is not permitted in some State forests or areas within State forests, such as near picnic and camping areas or where forestry operations are taking place.
Hunters need to get written permission every time they wish to hunt and are required to download the most up-to-date version of the maps from the DPI Hunting Unit to a GPS-enabled device before they are permitted to hunt.
You can find information on hunting regulations, licences and forests declared available for hunting on the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development website.
Finally, before you go make sure you check for any closures or notices on our website to avoid disappointment. Hunting is not permitted in closed forests, even with a permit.
Enjoy your visit!
