Closure of Hunter and Central Coast and Mid North Coast State Forests due to flooding
Due to severe flood damage, Forestry Corporation is closing all State forests in the Hunter Valley and on the Mid North Coast until further notice.
Areas Affected: All forest roads and trails, campgrounds and picnic areas
Public Access Restrictions: Do not enter closed forests - road conditions are extremely hazardous due to:
- Landslips and fallen trees
- Bridge and culvert failures
- Flooded crossings
- Significant pavement damage
Exceptions for Permit Holders & Residents: State forest permit holders may access forests to check on cattle and bees.
Residents needing access may use forest roads only for travel to homes or towns.
Stay Updated: Use the Hazards Near Me app for real-time road condition updates.
An assessment has been completed at Guulabaa – Place of the Koala and the visitor site in Cowarra State Forest is open to the public.
