We distribute timber harvesting across the landscape and over time to avoid potential cumulative impacts. Our detailed planning process includes long-term, tactical and operational planning.
We model the volume of timber that can be sustainably harvested from the forests in each supply zone every year for the next 100 years. Our sales contracts align with geographic supply zones and do not exceed sustainable supply levels.
3-5 years before operations we identify which compartments are suitable for harvesting and spread operations across the supply zones. Tactical planning informs where the more detailed operational planning should commence.
Our trained and professional staff spend 12-18 months carring out multiple surveys, data analysis, desktop assessments and consultation to develop a comprehensive harvest plan for every operation.
We publish an annual plan of operations to provide early advice about the location, timing and duration of forestry operations proposed over the coming year.
A summary of the annual plan of operations is below. This shows where operations are intended to take place in coastal native forests over the 12-month period. This is a live plan that is continually updated to ensure stakeholders always have an up-to-date forward projection of where operations are proposed over the coming year. The annual plan demonstrates the dispersal of operations across the CIFOA area.

The NSW Government has announced the proposed boundary for the Great Koala National Park and a moratorium on timber harvesting in the 176,000 hectares of state forest assessed for inclusion in the park. This information is provided as part of an Enforceable Undertaking that Forestry Corporation entered into with the NSW EPA after one of its contractors harvested 17 trees from riparian exclusion zones in Coopernook State Forest in December 2021.
