Snowy Valleys Nature Wellness Drive
The unprecedented scale of the bushfires, the impact of covid and then flooding, left parts of the NSW Snowy Valleys community with heightened levels of anxiety and stress.
These impacts were further exacerbated by a downturn in tourism, forestry and farming incomes. For some Snowy Valleys residents, these combined events brought forward fear and uncertainty toward the nature that surrounds them.
Developed from a community initiative, the Nature Wellness Drives seeks to rekindle our deep longing to reconnect with and rejuvenate the natural landscape-as nature recovers our communities recover.
The wellness drive is a unique and invigorating overlay on the stunning Snowy Valleys landscape. It is designed to unlock the health and healing benefits of nature through self-guided experiences and interactive installations.
Nature connection activities are supported by signage and self-guided geo-reference audios via the FREE Nature Fix app which shares information via QR codes along the way. The app responds to your location and leads you on the journey.
The layout of the trail and design of the interactive stations follow biophilic design principles to achieve optimal engagement with nature to improve health, wellbeing and increased care for community and the natural world.
NatureFix self-guided routines are carefully matched with the shapes, sounds, smells and textures found in nature to purposefully increase visitor connections and hands-on engagement with nature.
Forestry Corporation is proud to be part of the team instrumental in achieving this important tourism, environmental, health & wellness product in the Snowy Valleys, incorporating Bago State Forest, the Pilot Hill Arboretum and new Wellness Walk.
