The world’s first koala sniffer dog visited Royal Camp State Forest on the NSW North Coast to track and survey the local koala population. Oscar the Labrador searched 100 hectares of forest over four days.
Pristine picnic areas, walking trails with spectacular vistas and world-class recreation facilities have helped Forestry Corporation win a string of tourism awards this month, and catapulted Strickland State Forest into the Hunter and Central Coast Tourism Hall of Fame.
Forestry Corporation is putting fire-fighters around the state through their paces, running a twelve-week training tour throughout NSW to prepare for the fire season.
Campers in Tumut and Tumbarumba plantation and native State forests are asked to switch to gas fires from 1 December until further notice.
