Become a Friend of Kerewong State Forest on the NSW Mid North Coast. As a volunteer you can work outdoors, learn new skills, and contribute to the education, recreation and conservation values of the forest.  We are always on the lookout for new members.

Activities

As a Friends of Kerewong volunteer you will be involved in several projects. These include:

• repair and maintenance of the historic Longworth’s Tramway walk, including installation of infrastructure and signage
• restoration of native vegetation using bush regeneration principles
• maintaining recreational facilities, including other walking tracks and nearby Swans Crossing campground.

You can also learn about the history of the Tramway.

On the day

All equipment and supervision are provided. Volunteers should wear long trousers, long sleeves, sturdy shoes and bring a water bottle.

All volunteers will be inducted into the program at their first session and informed of requirements of the Forestry Corporation volunteer policy and safety management system.

Morning tea is also provided.

When and where

As this is a brand-new volunteer program, the ‘Friends of Kerewong’ schedule will be established according to the availability of volunteers and Forestry Corporation supervisors. A schedule will then be made available for the rest of the year.

An orientation and induction session is currently planned for Swans Crossing Campground on Saturday 28 March, from 9.30am-12.30pm.

Volunteers will meet at Swans Crossing Campground. Please note that parking is limited along Upsalls Creek Road. In wet weather, a notification will be sent out by email after 8am with an update.
