Community members seeking to collect firewood from local State forests are being encouraged to arrange a permit online and collect their wood now, ahead of planned hazard reduction burns.

Following the devastation of the 2019-20 bushfire season, work will soon begin to remove the iconic Sugar Pine Walk in Bago State Forest.

A coordinated wild dog control program is being run in partnership between Local Land Services, Forestry Corporation and private landholders to address the increasing threat posed by wild dogs following bushfires and drought.

Following extensive work by Forestry Corporation of NSW and contractors over the last few months, Bago and Maragle State Forests are now reopened for essential forest use. This excludes activities still prohibited due to COVID19 restrictions such as camping, picnicking and fossicking.

Firewood collection is now open in selected Central Tablelands State forests, meaning residents can arrange a permit to stock up on firewood ahead of winter.
