Recent widespread rainfall and increased humidity have meant many coastal State forests from Sydney to the Queensland border are reopening on Wednesday 22 January 2020.

With fire weather worsening, State forests in the Tumut, Tumbarumba and Bombala areas have been closed from midnight 29 December 2019 until further notice.

Forestry Corporation of NSW is warning the community that many State forests are currently dangerous firegrounds – with either the current threat of fire or recent fire activity - and there are widespread forest closures across the South East NSW and wider NSW.

All State forests on the South Coast of NSW are now closed to the public until further notice due to the ongoing fire risk. The exceptions are Bodalla Rest Area (in Bodalla State Forest) and Scrubby Creek rest area (in East Boyd State Forest), which remain open.

State forests in the Lower Hunter and Central Coast areas will be closed for one day on Friday 6 December 2019 due to expected severe fire weather.
