Sunny Corner State Forest
Staying safe in Sunny Corner State Forest
The Sunny Corner area has a history of mining activity. Due to this former mining, mineshafts (both horizontal and vertical) can still be encountered within the State forest. While the locations of some mineshafts are known, many shafts remain unidentified and can be hazardous to the safety of forest users.
When accessing this forest, please be conscious of the potential to encounter mineshafts and the risks they pose to your safety (such as tripping and falling from height).
