Closures and notices

Fires 2019-20

Continuing drought and fire conditions have increased fire risk statewide. Please refer to the current list of closures related to fire before visiting a forest.

Even if a forest is open, please carefully consider whether to visit a State forest in the current conditions.

What if I access my property via State forest?

If you routinely use a State forest to access your property, please ensure you keep up to date with the latest fire warnings and information from the Rural Fire Service. Some forest roads are physically blocked, unpassable or remain fire grounds. We encourage people to consider their own safety and avoid entering closed forests for any reason.

What if I have a permit for an activity within a forest?

Forest closures override permits.

Forest closures override all permits for hunting, fossicking and other activities. These activities are not permitted in closed forests even with a permit.

Forest Permit holders will be advised when they can access permit areas by their local Forestry Corporation permit contact, following a case-by-case assessment as forests are made safe and/or the fire risk lessens.

Forest users please note

From time to time forests, or sections of forests, need to be closed to the public for a variety of reasons including fire and flood, maintenance, events or forest operations.

A list of closures, bookings and notifications have been provided here to assist potential forests visitors. This list relates to forests with recreation areas only and does not cover forests or parts of forests closed for other operational reasons like harvesting.

Please note: Forest conditions can change rapidly and closures may occur suddenly. Information cannot always be immediately reflected on our website. Always pay attention to signs in the forest or instructions from staff.

Some State forests may be closed on high fire risk days. Please check the latest fire information before visiting NSW State forests over summer.

Contact your closest Forestry Corporation office for up-to-date information about forest closures.
