Guided walks a treat for bird lovers this October
Spot a striking rainbow lorikeet, a hidden tawny frogmouth or even a powerful owl up in the forest canopy on a guided bird watching walk in Cumberland State Forest in West Pennant Hills this October.
Forestry Corporation of NSW’s Senior Ranger Tim Liston said the walks were a perfect excuse to get the family up and out of the house early on a Sunday.
“The Early Bird Brekky guided bird watching walks are an ideal introduction to Cumberland State Forest and our local birdlife,” Mr Liston said.
“The walks are led by experienced bird watchers from the Cumberland Bird Observers Club, who let walkers in on their local knowledge about the best places for spotting some of the rarer birds we have in the forest.
“We have an amazing array of native birdlife in the forest, including some threatened species and a breeding pair of powerful owls, and the eagle-eyed bird watchers from the Cumberland Bird Observers Club make bird watching a great day out for everyone from first-timers to bird watching enthusiasts.
“The walk is followed by a barbecue breakfast, making it a great morning treat for the whole family and maybe even one of the best value brunches in Sydney.”
