Temporary road closure to state forest mountain bike park
The Masons Hill Section at Mannus State Forest - Mountain Bike Park near Tumbarumba will be temporarily closed to the public as roading works are undertaken next month.
“Starting on Thursday February 1 until Wednesday February 14, 2024, the works will see the Mannus Hill Mountain Bike Park temporarily closed to mountain bike riders and vehicles and we expect these works to take up to two weeks to be completed," Lisa Davies, Roading Operations Coordinator for the Snowy Region Tumut Management Area, said.
“The road maintenance program requires the closure of the road and mountain bike tracks ahead of a planned second thinning harvest operation which are currently scheduled to commence in April 2024.
“The road and bike track closure are necessary to ensure the safety of visitors and bike enthusiasts during this essential maintenance of road and harvest infrastructure.
“Forestry Corporation has undertaken consultation with the mountain bike clubs in the area and we wish to inform the wider public about the temporary closure while these road works are undertaken by our contractors and provide advance notice that there will be further temporary closures once harvesting begins.
“We understand that this temporary closure may cause inconvenience to forest users, and we thank the community for their patience and cooperation,” Lisa said.
Road signage will be posted in the forest. Bike riders and motorists are advised to follow instructions to avoid danger.
