Statement on allegations of false reports
Forestry Corporation categorically rejects suggestions that it has published false information about its operations.
All Forestry Corporation’s operations are completely transparent, with detailed harvest plans freely available online as well as regularly updated reports on the status of each operation.
In November 2018 a new regulatory framework was introduced and in recognition of the many months of planning involved in planning forestry operations a two-year transition period was implemented to minimise duplication of planning efforts.
Plans that commenced prior to November 2019 are able to be completed under the old regulations, while plans that had not commenced expired and must be re-planned under the new regulations.
Forestry Corporation introduced a new plan portal system alongside this new regulation to streamline and improve the availability of public information about operations.
It was a requirement of the former Integrated Forestry Operations Approvals (IFOAs) that the commencement date of any specified forestry activity in any forest area be recorded, which by definition includes roadworks. Forestry Corporation therefore considers operations to have commenced when the associated roadworks commence on site.
Forestry Corporation specifically checked all of the information ahead on the IFOA transition expiry to ensure it was correctly entered and maintains that all the information supplied was accurate.
