The closure of Glencoe Rd, south of Ballina, commences from this week.

Forestry Corporation’s North Coast Forest Operations Coordinator Ryan Beaumont said the construction works are estimated to take approximately one month to complete.

“If the works go to plan, without weather delays, Glencoe Rd should be reopened on Friday, August 30,” Mr Beaumont said.

“If motorists wish to travel from Bungawalbin Whiporie Road to the Pacific Highway, please use the de tour via Moonem New Italy Road.

“Forestry Corporation appreciates the assistance of the public, as these important road works are carried out.

“We will advise the public via forest closure notices on our website of any delays in the project.

The construction of the two new bridges in Doubleduke State Forest is part of the NSW Government-funded Forest Infrastructure Repair Program (FIRP) which has seen Forestry Corporation plan, construct and complete 160 road, bridge and culvert projects in NSW state forests over the past two years.

In 2022, the NSW Government provided $60 million in funding spread over three years towards FIRP to fix flood-damaged roads, bridges and culverts and restore access for forest management and the broader community.

Forestry Corporation maintains 60,000km of roads and fire trails in NSW state forests, which complement the state’s primary road network.
