Forestry Corporation has completed a new nature-themed playground in Coopernook State Forest for visiting families to enjoy.

Local Mid North Coast firms have benefitted from the project, which showcases the quality of timber products harvested from state forests.

“The project was completed by the Natural Landscape Company and all of the hardwood timber used in the children’s playground has been generously supplied by Machin’s Sawmill at Wingham,” Forestry Corporation’s Partnership Leader Mid North Coast Leah Moncrieff said.

“The addition of a playground makes the Coopernook campground even more family-friendly, great for camping trips, picnics and daytrips with children,” Ms Moncrieff said.

The timber playground has been designed to encourage children to play and engage creatively with the natural environment.

It has also been built with minimal use of synthetic materials and moveable parts to ensure child safety.

The Natural Landscape Company also built the popular playground at Swans Crossing five years ago.

Forestry Corporation is planning to hold an official opening and barbecue at the campground in December for the local community and visitors to enjoy.

This playground is part of an Enforceable Undertaking Forestry Corporation entered into with the EPA after one of its contractors harvested 17 trees form Riparian Exclusion Zones in the Coopernook State Forest in December 2021.
