Woolingubrah Inn

This historic inn is hidden away in Coolangubra State Forest, about 20 kilometres from Bombala.

‘Woolingubrah’ is an Aboriginal word for windy place, a most appropriate name, as the inn is located on an exposed peak of the Big Jack range of mountains.

Established in 1861 as a halfway hotel for people heading to the gold fields in Kiandra from such coastal towns as Tathra, Merimbula and Eden, the inn is thought to be one of only a few remaining buildings of its type in Australia.

Consisting of a bar, dining room, kitchen and six bedrooms, the inn was prefabricated and shipped from the USA in sections to be unloaded at Eden and transported up to the site where it stands today. The building has been restored and many of its original features are still intact.
