What you will be doing:
- Be responsible for the timely, accurate and efficient design, planning and execution of ecological monitoring and research programs
- Be consistent with established quality standards, ensure compliance with external requirements and support environmental water planning, delivery and other operations.
- Delivering the monitoring program funded by the Living Murray program
- collect, manage, analyse and interpret survey data, and produce scientific reports that inform decision-making for watering and operational planning at a range of levels.
- Working with contractors and community organisations to deliver the monitoring program
- Communication with stakeholders such as contractors and members of the community
We would love you to have:
- The ability to self-manage to achieve goals and keep to deadlines
- Great communicator – both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate, in plain English, details of the project such as plans and actions.
- Knowledge and understanding of field ecology
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in flora and fauna monitoring techniques and habitat assessments, and use/maintenance of a variety of survey and related equipment.
- Knowledge of environmental watering in floodplain ecosystems.
- Proven organisational skills - ability to plan and prioritise work, meet standards and deadlines.
- Capacity and willingness to undertake fire and fuel management duties when required
- Experienced in working safely in a high-risk environment.
