Macquarie Woods Rest Area temporarily closed to public
Forests NSW is advising the public that Macquarie Woods Rest Area will be closed from Wednesday 16 May to Friday 8 June due to safety concerns, while site preparation work is undertaken in the surrounding pine plantation.
The rest area is located halfway between Bathurst and Orange in Vittoria State Forest.
Forests NSW Protection Coordinator, Dan Kirby, said Forests NSW apologised for the inconvenience of closing this popular camping and picnic area and would complete the site work as quickly as possible.
“This temporary closure is necessary to ensure the safety of visitors to the area,” he said.
Mr Kirby said Forests NSW was committed to not only maintaining a viable timber industry in the region, but also to maintaining recreation areas such as Macquarie Woods.
“Vittoria State Forest is part of the 65,000 hectares of pine plantation estate in the Central West managed by Forests NSW,” he said.
