Forests NSW Safety Day to highlight excellent safety record

Forests NSW staff from across the Monaro Region will be attending a 'Safety Day' to be held at the Bombala RSL Club on Tuesday 7 August.

Forests NSW regional manager, Mark Chaplin, said Forests NSW was constantly working to improve safety by implementing new safety initiatives and consulting staff.

"Days like these, which bring together our productive team, are very important because they allow us to carefully plan for safety in the workplace, identify hazards and share information," he said.

"At this meeting we will be celebrating the fact that during the past financial year, the Monaro Region reported no recordable injuries, which is an outstanding achievement.

"In this region, we have worked very hard to achieve zero injuries in the past 12 months, and I would like to congratulate the region‟s workforce who have made it their business to address hazards and find solutions."

Forests NSW safety coordinator, based in Sydney, Jane Imrie, will also talk to staff about the safety issues involved in near-miss situations.

Mr Chaplin said Forests NSW encouraged the reporting of near misses.

"A lot can be learnt from these situations if they are properly documented," he said.

Forests NSW director Planted Forests, Ian Brown, who is based in Sydney, will be presenting a number of Forests NSW safety and long service awards to staff.
