World Rally Championships a family day out in the forest

This weekend, the three-day Australian leg of the World Rally Championship hits the Coffs Coast from 16 to 19 November, with most of the internationally-televised event taking place on local State forest roads.

Forestry Corporation of NSW welcomes families to take a break from the action at the NSW Forests Rally Village, located in Wedding Bells State Forest.

“Every year, the World Rally Championships brings hundreds of visitors to the Coffs Coast and into local State forests and it’s an exciting event to be a part of. As well as working with organisers to prepare the coast, Forestry Corporation hosts a marquee with shaded areas and seating where families can experience the thrills of this world class event,” said Justin Black, Forestry Corporation's Strategic Projects and Programs Leader.

Holly James, Partnerships Leader at Forestry Corporation, said the designated Kids Corner is always  a hit with parents and children alike.

“We keep the day interesting, with some really fun, water and nature-based activities that encourage children to touch and feel,” she said.

“All children visiting us at the Kids Corner will be able to take home some colouring pencils, a  hat, and buff to keep cool. There are also giveaways on offer for the adults.”

For the community’s safety, roads in some State forests will be closed from 16 to 19 November and public access to some forests will be limited. Further details will be on the Forestry Corporation of NSW website at
